Dozing and grading
Bulldozer Air Conditioning in Rustenburg
18 000 – 24 000 BTU/h typical cabin duty
Equipment overview
Track dozers pushing stockpiles, building haul roads and shaping tips work in a self-generated dust cloud at low speed, which is the worst possible combination for condenser airflow and cabin sealing.
Why HVAC matters on this equipment
Low ground speed means little natural airflow through the condenser while radiant heat from the engine bay and the ground is at its highest. Cabin sealing matters more here than on almost any surface machine because the dust source is directly around the operator.
Common HVAC problems
- Chronic condenser fouling due to low-speed operation in dust
- High-side pressure rise and cycling on pressure switches
- Cabin seal and floor boot deterioration from track vibration
- Hose chafing against structure and guarding
- Evaporator drain blockage and cabin water ingress
- Blower assembly wear from continuous high-speed running
Repair and maintenance requirements
- Condenser removal, chemical cleaning or replacement where fins are collapsed
- Pressure and temperature diagnosis under working load rather than at idle
- Hose rerouting and protection where chafe damage is found
- Cabin seal, boot and grommet replacement
- Refrigerant circuit repair with drier renewal and accurate recharge
- Blower and control replacement
Preventative maintenance
- Short-interval condenser blow-down as part of daily or weekly checks
- Filter replacement matched to actual dust exposure
- Guarding and screen inspection to prevent large debris packing
- Recorded performance checks each service
